Started our campaign up. 3 Towns...formerly know as the Tri-Cities in Washington State...east side.

I will post crew lists after I collect them, we were going to just do paperwork, but had time to get in one game (almost got it in).

Rolled up some sources for RU outside of games, have a list of 10 locations...the crowd favorite was the "night club"...fill in the subtext...

Need to tweek the list before I post it, currently it pays out a bit much on a few. Random determination for location.

Game one was Mall Streets. Stance is so important on this one. Ross picked D while James took N. James had an uphill fight from the start.

We were only able to get 2 full turns in.

Ross runs generic Brawlers with spears, so he had to roll from the start and he flinched... the fight was on...in the hole 10RU!

Turn one, James tries to get into cover.

Battle for the Fruit stand. James sent in his dog to take out Ross's crew member, this stopped Ross from holding the stand.

At the end of the 2nd turn we had to call it, ran out of time, but it looked bad for James. He had 3 out of action and 2 wounded, only one had to go to the chart and he rolled a 7! No effect. Spears and reach weapons are pretty damn strong. Ross had one out of action and made his roll. After we added up the RU, James pulled it out due to holding 2 stands and the bonus of 5 per stand, while Ross got hit hard by the -10 for starting the fight.

Did you find that the spear spam was kept in check a little bit by the detriment for green characters starting a fight? The way that I tried to design things, you can get tabled and still win the game as long as you stick to your objectives. That way, the hardest min/max'd list will still have a hard time if they're just going for straight kills. I definitely want to talk with you about the reach trait, but I think I've got some pretty creative solutions to making sure it's not too overpowered, by using the hold action. I talked to you about it a bit, but I want to playtest it a bit more before deciding how to go with it, but your group seems like a great place to try it out and see if it makes things a little more balanced against the spear spam.

Have you gotten any games in yet with a decent amount Power 5 shooting on the board? I want to see how you feel shooting works once it gets starts coming into it's own, and as intended.

Can't wait to see the lists on this one, and I'm really excited that this campaign is going.

Great looking buildings, and models too!

Do you have any hashtags that you use for your group? I'd like to tweet and post about it.

Uh, what's twitter...I do facebook and that is enough. I don't even know wth you are talking about...

The green roll really didn't matter much, cept for the loss of 10 RU. He was going to charge anyways since he was in a very strong position to capture all the stalls by the end of 4 turns. Only thing that saved James was the game ending due to store closing.

Problem with spears and reach is you get an extra X inches on the charge and the other guy is screwed out of using his gun on his activation or a fumble, since he is now engaged.

So at end of round, move in to BTB, but on his/her activation they will need to change weapons to fight back or use ranged at -1 (does it become a club or are you shooting it). So to change to a viable weapon you lose the activation since fighting is complex action. So a guy who has his gun out that gets charged by a spear or reach weapon is screwed for 2 turns and can't do anything back even on a fumble by the attacker, unless he moves in and keeps out his ranged weapon...yea, I think reach is a bit OP the way fighting works, it even removes point blank range. And since you are engaged, but not BTB, your buddies will be shooting into melee if they try to shoot the guy with the reach weapon. Hold used to shoot the guy charging would tone it down a ton or allowing the guy with a gun to shoot until the reach weapon is btb makes more sense to me.

Try this out and let me know how it plays:

Reach trait
A Character with a reach weapon can attack the target at a distance from its base equal to the level of the reach trait. For example, a weapon with a reach 2 would be able to be used to attack any models within 2" of base-to base contact from the attacking model. However, these sorts of attacks do not result in an engagement.
