Drifter chick! These models are a blast to paint. Base is leftover from something that got ripped off and stuck on something else.

Looks great! The multi-colored hair is a nice touch and the worn metal look of the rifle really fits thematically with the rest of the model.

Are those facial tattoos?

Thanks dudes! More on the way. Gotta figure out what to do with the bases. And yes, she has some warpaint on there. I figure the arms are tattoos and the face is warpaint. Probs gonna re-watch last of the mohicans for some sweet decoration ideas.

Thanks, man!
You got any ideas on bases? I'm totally at a loss. I'm kind of torn between broken down urban terrain and actual greenery and rocks. Like these drifters hang out somewhere that the landscape has actually started coming back.
Also, check out my questions thread!

Cool looking figure, I have her on my table at the moment.
For bases I would (and have) go with dirt brown and small areas of returning vegetation. Near where I live there is a volcanic lava field "nature" reserve that has been used as a moonscape/hellscape in various movies it is so barren. Yet you don't have to look very hard to find mosses, lichen and other scrub plants growing even here. They will find a way to survive anywhere.

Thanks man, I think that is what I'm leaning towards at this point. I also want to experiment with some weathering powders, so that may affect the outcome, as well. Where do you live that you have a lava-hellscape in town?

HERE

Can see the caldera rim from my house....worryingly that is my "uphill" view. It is about 30 minutes drive.

Super interesting!
There's some cool history there!

I am basically done with the sword/shield guy and the axe/pistol/helmet guy. Need to shoot some photos!

Hey! I finished my first batch a dudes and a boom pig. I'm having a blast painting these. I gotta get some more primed up. I have a whole box of Stakers and a whole box of Drifters on the assembly line!
Still place holder bases, for now.

I've got a couple more models done. Another Drifter, and my first Staker. Also, here are some more photos of the previous Drifters, so you can see some of the patterns and stuff I put on 'em. I love doing that stuff!

See you went red/white spot on the Handler's 'napkin'.....I have been trying to work out wtf that this meant to be since beginning painting the guy.
Are you working on the basis that it is his shirt?

Fantastic character on these paint jobs. I love the little touches that you added. The tattoos, patterns on the clothing, and tribal designs all add a tremendous amount to these figures. Very nicely done!

Very nice. I especially love the shock staff, the blue/green is a great choice you made. Really like how each one is so "individual", just as drifters would be.

They each have their individual elements, but they still manage to have quite a cohesive appearance at the same time.

Thanks, guys!
I've got another couple Stakers almost done, but I got distracted painting samurai dudes and some Infinity dudes.
My finger is also hovering over a shopping basket full of shipping containers and such-like from Laser Cut Card. They seem like the fastest way to put a board together. Then I'll order some sweet showpieces from Impudent Mortal, cuz that shit's rad.
Then I'll be able to start running games and I'll have the gamer holy grail: the playset. Two sides, scenery, game. Just add friend.

Wait, you got distracted by miniatures? I'm sure none of us can relate.
;)

Defnitely keep us updated on the progress. I am sure it's going to be an awesome board.

I recognize my failing and have been sure to correct it. 3 Stakers finished last night. I'll have pics today.
Also, ordered the scenery!

RARRR!!!!
All based up and everything. These guys'll be my starting 150 pt Crew to go along with the Drifters I did already. They add up to 150, as well. I can pretty much use the cards that come with the models, just need to downgrade the Outriders.

Those are fantastic! You really know how to grab the character out of these models. You definitely have a very cool, cohesive looking force, without making them look like they have a uniform on. Definitely tricky to pull off, but I think you've executed it very well. To make them pop a little more, you might want to try adding a few more layers of strong highlights to the rifles, and the rocks on the bases, as well as picking out some other small details... It looks like you're almost using a blocking technique, which can be pulled off really well, and looks great at a distance... I'll post up a cool example of that from the guy Joey who runs This is Not a Test.

Thanks dude! Glad you are digging them. I have a ton of work I could do on these dudes whenever I get some time to do a detail pass on them. All their stitching/staples that are holding their clothes together could use work and there's plenty of stuff in there that I straight ignored. I'm trying to avoid highlighting too high on these guys, but they can definitely use some work.
I'm also planning on a pigment pass at some point to dust 'em up, and some more scrub grass and stuff on the bases.
And yeah, I'm basically painting them in blocks of color, washing them with strong tone, and then re-highlighting them.
Always room for improvement!
