Hi All,
I'm starting a Role playing version of Wreck Age this year with some people. Most of them have no experience with Role playing and since i'm the only one who paints and minis, i'm going to run the game as just a pen and paper and dice 'Narrative game'
Here are some issues i'm concerned about.
-Since all but one of us have any experience with 'gaming' I don't want to over burden or abstract the experience too much by making them create communities and the subsequent multiple characters that come with that. Many of the six players I have agreed to play do not even know each other and I actually want to incorporate that 'strangeness' into the game to actually build a community through their struggles, as opposed to just all starting out as old pals. That being the case, I'm only having them start off with one character at 'trained' level.
-I've been doing some dry runs to figure out the combat stuff. Its apparent that its too easy to die, or at best be knock dot the ground bleeding and dazed. I'm thinking of adding Hit points in the game and giving green characters 2 or 3 hit points and then 3 or 4 for trained etc..etc.. Has anyone had this experience?
-Character sheets=I made my own but was wondering if anyone has made one and had success with it? The one n the back of the rule book is not really user friendly. Some players are in their late forties and the eyesight is fading fast.
-Here's a link to the blog I started. Like I said, we've yet to meet. I'm excited though and everyone loves the idea of setting it where we live. Thanks and any other advice would be appreciated.

I will do a double sided character sheet based on this template for you early next week. There are a few things I think would be helpful to add, and I'll try to put some nice graphics on it.

Cool. Appreciate it. I made a dozen or so NPC characters to start with and one thing I felt was needed was a place for equipment but also Clothes and rations. My players are going to be starting pretty bare and spare. The NPC's provide the most rich source of goods and supplies.
They're not going to be running into any 'lost bunkers' full of kitkats and bazookas for awhile.

All bunkers should be filled with kit kats and bazookas.

But apparently, RPGs are terrible in vehicular combat.

I like the idea of starting characters out in total destitution... it gives you a chance to see what they're made of, and the players will appreciate the progression that much more, than if you stock them up with supplies and a ready-made community.

I'll have that character sheet for you soon.

Have been working on these character sheets... I want them to be fantastic, so I've spent like 4 hours just downloading brushes and patterns for photoshop. I'm sure I'll scrap most of what I've done, but it is coming along.

We're meeting tonight. Real game play won't start until next week though,so I could swap over to your new fancy ones. Wish me luck.

Hi Again,
Update since my last post;
I have been very fortunate with the group i'm 'narrating' for. We have five players plus me. Good turn out every session ( once a week with some cancellations due to several coinciding players' issues), and everyone has been very engaged to a degree I had not truly expected. The rules are very loose still and I feel like i'm really just running a men's group therapy session than a formal role playing game, which is fine with me, 'cuz we all got issues'.
Anyway, I have updated our blog to bring us up to the present. Take a look if you can and let me know if you have any questions or thought. Have a great 2015!

This is a new version of the drum circle!
;)

I'm glad that it's going well. My only complaint about the site, is that you have to read it in reverse chronological order. Otherwise, I'm loving the reports so far!

I especially like the little images that you keep peppering throughout.

Keep them coming.
