and i'm not an alcoholic.

I've been playing tabletop games for about 8 years now, and I've been building models since I was a little kid.

I have always loved sci-fi, and especially post-apocalyptia. I used to read or watch anything of the genre (no matter how bad) that I could get my hands on.

I started playing tabletop games when I was doing design work for Fanpro. I learned a game called VOR, which was based on the premise of different factions meeting each other through a "maelstrom". The game was simple to learn, and I really liked the concept of it being a strategy game with a hobby element to it. It appealed to my creative side as well as my competitive nature.

So, the interest was there, but I didn't think too much of it until a few years later. Matt (the other half of Hyacinth Games) taught me how to play Warhammer 40k, and a few RPGs. From there, I was hooked. I played in a bunch of tournaments, including national ones, and even won some.

However, what really drove me, was campaign style play, and skirmish type games in particular...

I love Settlers of Catan, and other board games, and I play a fantastic meta-game.

I'm very competitive by nature, but above all, I like to have a fun time. Any animosities during a game, always "re-set" at the end. I don't like to carry any hostilities from a game. I think it's silly, and defeats the purpose.

That said, I really like to win. ;)

I can find exploits in most game systems, but I've done my best to avoid becoming a "power gamer".

Some of my best games have been ones that I lost, but still had a great time with.

Some of my worst games have been with people who want to win above all else... At that point, the game ceases to be enjoyable for me.

I'm helping write Wreck-age to be the game that I WANT to play, and I hope to find time in between all the rules-creating and management to get a lot of games in.

For the fame and fortune, of course.

Alcoholics go to meetings. Drunks go to bars. :)
